CED takes over SOS International from a.s.r.
CED-group is taking over emergency response company SOS International from a.s.r. With the take-over, CED is strengthening its position as a full-service claims specialist and is even better able to provide 24/7 assistance and clarity to people in unforeseen circumstances.
SOS International has been providing 24/7 assistance to stranded travellers worldwide for over 30 years, in case of illness, an accident or car breakdown. The emergency response company is part of the International Assistance Group, a network consisting of 160 partners in over 40 countries. CED-group has been the full-service claims specialist of Europe for 45 years. With 1,450 employees in fourteen European countries, CED-group works daily to deal with claims and calamities in the best possible way.
Hans Coffeng, CEO of CED, is excited about SOS International joining CED-group: “With the take-over of SOS International, CED is not only strengthening itself with a reputable player in the field of emergency support. We are also expanding our so-called front-office activities: especially here, we as a claims specialist can make the difference at the moment of truth. SOS International has direct contact with people in unforeseen circumstances and CED has all the tools to then deal with the damage, claim or calamity through an integrated approach. Whether it concerns car breakdown, burglary, fire or personal injury: together with SOS International, we offer victims quick assistance and clarity when it matters.”
Karin Bergstein, member of the Board of Directors of a.s.r.: “SOS International serves many insurers and other companies as well as a.s.r. and therefore has its own specific dynamic. The services of CED and SOS complement each other. That’s why we have found the right partner in CED for the take-over of SOS International, which has always had an autonomous position within the a.s.r. concern. Under the wings of CED, SOS International will be able to to further develop itself, which is good for all people who, at some point, use the services which SOS International is providing.”
CED has appointed Marcel van der Meulen as director of SOS International.
